Description from the seller
Nkira Ntswo statue - Teke - DRC (Zaire/Congo)
Small statuette also called 'Tkira - Nswo' or 'Nkira Ntswo' from the Teké people of Zaire.
In this type of ancestor statuettes, the Teké associate two very different types of spirits, bearing respectively the names bapfu and bankir.
The former are spirits of anonymous deceased; the latter are spirits of known and named ancestors.
These spirits, with protective or destructive duties, are at the service of the owner or group of owners of the statue.
At the heart of the mass of ingredients amalgamated with resin, there is a piece of mirror.
The represented hairstyle resembles that of chiefs (ntswo e mpuu).
