Description from the seller
Elegant and authentic 19th-century liturgical paten (pisside) made of silvered metal with a finely gilded inner cup and a gilded bronze knob. A sacred furnishing of great charm, originally intended to hold the consecrated Hosts during the Eucharistic celebration.
The piece presents a classic harmonious line, enriched by gadrooned bands, pearl-related fluting, and a refined crowned summit cross cast, elements that recall the best mid-nineteenth-century ecclesiastical production.
The interior preserves splendid original gilding, still particularly bright, designed to safeguard the Blessed Sacrament over time and a testimony to the craft quality of the work. The contrast between the silver exterior, with its natural patina of age, and the gilded interior gives the object notable elegance.
Coming from an ancient Italian ecclesiastical reality, this paten represents an interesting testimony to 19th-century sacred art, ideal for both collectors of liturgical objects and as a refined decorative element.
Conditions are good and consistent with its age. Normal signs of time, light wear, and superficial oxidations are present, attesting to its authenticity and lived history, without compromising the solidity or historical value of the piece. The gilded interior remains in very good condition, as visible in the photographs.
Dimensions: Height: 20.5 cm; Cup diameter: 7.5 cm
Our interior designer/architect recommends: perfect inside a collection of sacred art, in a library, in a private chapel, or set in a classical environment as a precious witness to 19th-century liturgy.
Photos are an integral part of the description.
Safely packed by sector professionals.
