Description from the seller
GENERAL:
A rare opportunity for lovers of French elegance: this first-series Citroën CX with the coveted chromed bumpers impresses with its exceptionally well-kept condition. The Youngtimer comes from the previous owner's estate of an elderly gentleman who cared for the vehicle for years. A special highlight is the official status as a "Veteran Vehicle" on the Swiss vehicle registration certificate—a seal of quality that requires a far stricter and more precise official inspection than, for example, a standard H-approval. Following a bereavement, this piece of automotive passion is now for sale.
BODYWORK & PAINT:
The body is in very well-maintained condition and appears to still bear the original paint. The chrome shines exceptionally around the entire car, and the glass is free of cracks or stone chips. The vehicle is completely rust-free; welding is not required. The gloss of the paint is already very good and could be further perfected with a polish.
Note: The left front fender shows light waviness near the door sill. This is purely cosmetic, does not affect function, and does not require immediate repair (see detail photo).
TECHNICAL DATA:
The hydraulics typical of Citroën allow the body to rise and lower perfectly; the system works flawlessly. Mechanically, the car is in very good condition, as confirmed by the Swiss vehicle inspection (MFK) with veteran status. The engine starts reliably, revs freely, and the gearbox shifts cleanly – even the kickdown responds immediately during strong acceleration. On 05.05.2026 the exhaust test was renewed and a new windshield wiper was installed.
Note: In the past, the starter occasionally stuck after longer periods of inactivity, but this has not occurred in the last two months with regular use.
INTERIOR:
The interior presents in a well-kept original condition for its age. The upholstery, headliner and carpet have always been treated with care and show a very nice appearance. The door panels have no defects. All electrical functions – including the electric sunroof and the power windows – as well as the radio, fan and all gauges work perfectly.
DOCUMENTS:
The vehicle is delivered with extensive documentation proving the history without gaps:
* Swiss vehicle registration with entry "Veteran Vehicle".
* Service book and owner's manual.
* Swiss exhaust documents.
* Repair manual and various repair invoices.
FURTHER INFORMATION:
A viewing in Fällanden near Zurich (Switzerland) is explicitly welcome and can be arranged by appointment. Pickup should take place within one week after the auction ends in Fällanden.
In addition to the vehicle, the buyer will receive a car cover for a C5 (Pyjama) as well as a spare headlight. Tires, brakes and suspension are in good condition; no significant leaks were detected. Thanks to the veteran status, the car only requires inspection in Switzerland every 6 years, underscoring the above-average quality of this classic. Step in and drive away!

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
