A revolution that forever changed the history of the automobile. Conceived by a young and brilliant team of engineers from Sant’Agata Bolognese —Marcello Gandini on design for Bertone and Gian Paolo Dallara in engineering— the Miura was not just an extraordinary car: it was a statement of intent.

The Lamborghini Miura is the first great mid-engine V12 supercar produced in series. Its architecture, inspired directly by competition, placed the powertrain right behind the seats, forever altering the balance and dynamics of high-performance sports cars. That technical decision, bold and unconventional for a street car of its time, marked the start of a new era.

Its body, designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone, is considered one of the most beautiful ever created. Low, fluid lines, perfect proportions, and the iconic “eyelids” over the headlights in the early versions formed a silhouette that was at once sensual and aggressive. The Miura didn’t look like a conventional car: it seemed to be movement even when stationary.

Under its sleek rear cover beat a 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V12, capable of developing between 350 and 385 HP depending on the version (P400, P400 S, and P400 SV). Paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, it offered an intense, sonorous, visceral experience. The V12’s roar, located just a few centimeters from the cabin, turned every journey into a unique sensory experience.

More than numbers, the Miura offered character. It was demanding, passionate, imperfect in the most romantic sense of the word. It did not seek to domesticate power, but to celebrate it. Its behavior, its sound, and its presence quickly made it a symbol of exclusivity, rebellion, and Italian sophistication.
