Description from the seller
Weight 2.5 kg.
Large hand-made stoneware sculpture vase crafted entirely by hand using the Japanese Kurinuki technique.
A unique, organic piece, characterized by irregular forms, natural cavities, and strong sculptural expressiveness. The surface, rich in texture, craters, and grooves, recalls coral formations or rocks eroded by time, creating an object with a strong visual and tactile impact.
Technical details:
Material: High-temperature ceramic stoneware 1230 °C
Technique: Kurinuki (direct carving from a solid block)
Dimensions: Height 24 cm × 14 cm × 14 cm
Weight: 2.5 kg
Color: Natural ivory white with delicate variations and traces of engobe
This piece perfectly blends function and sculpture: it can be used as a decorative vase or simply admired as an autonomous work of art. Its presence is imposing and sophisticated, ideal for modern, minimalist, or wabi-sabi interiors. One-of-a-kind piece, signed by the artist on the bottom. Condition: Excellent, with no defects or restorations. Ideal for contemporary ceramic collectors, lovers of Japanese ceramics, and organic art.
Max Modolo produces these ceramics in his studio in Italy.
His research focuses on the shapes of ceramics and their finishes.
He is very interested in glazes developed by artists such as Guido Gambone and Marcello Fantoni and has always been drawn to the shapes of Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.
