Description from the seller
Weight: 2 kg.
Large stoneware sculpture vase, handmade in its entirety using the Japanese Kurinuki technique.
A unique, organic piece, characterized by irregular forms, natural cavities, and strong sculptural expressiveness. The surface, rich in texture, craters and grooves, recalls coral formations or rocks eroded by time, creating an object with a strong visual and tactile impact.
Technical details:
Material: high-temperature stoneware ceramic 1230 °C
Technique: Kurinuki (direct carving from a solid block)
Dimensions: Height 24 cm × 14 cm × 14 cm
Weight: 2.5 kg
Color: natural ivory white with delicate variations and traces of engobe
This piece perfectly combines function and sculpture: it can be used as a decorative vase or simply admired as an autonomous work of art. Its presence is imposing and sophisticated, ideal for modern, minimalist, or wabi-sabi interiors. Unique piece, signed by the artist on the base. Condition: Excellent, with no defects or restorations. Ideal for collectors of contemporary ceramics, lovers of Japanese ceramics, and organic art.
Max Modolo creates these ceramics in his studio in Italy.
His research concerns the shapes of ceramic forms and their finishes.
He is very interested in glazes developed by artists such as Guido Gambone and Marcello Fantoni and has always been drawn to the forms of Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.
