Description from the seller
Title: The Other Shore
Work originally created in a naïve contemporary style that depicts a festive scene in a coastal village. The composition is built around the dialogue between architecture, human figures and sea and landscape views, with a vivid palette that contrasts and enhances the festive character of the scene.
In the center of the work a group of characters participate in traditional dances, creating a sense of movement and rhythm. The urban environment, with facades in intense colours against the sea, builds a light, Mediterranean atmosphere.
The artist processes recurring symbolic elements in her work, such as the clock, which refers to time passing and the transience of the moment, and bunting, associated with celebration, collective identity and community life. These elements provide an extra conceptual interpretation to the figurative scene.
The composition also introduces a second storyline through various figures who stand on the opposite bank, in a contemplative stance, creating a contrast between participation and observation and suggesting that different perspectives can coexist within one experience.
The work sits within contemporary figurative art, with its own naïve language, and emphasizes memory, daily life and human relationships in shared spaces.
