Viennese silver box produced in 1814, with a vermeil interior, measuring 6.5 × 4.5 × 1.5 cm and weighing 69.2 g, in good used condition with normal wear and a working original hinge.
Description from the seller
Refined silver small box with a completely vermeil interior (gold-plated), made in Vienna in the early years of the 19th century and traceable, based on the marks present, to Viennese production of 1814.
The object features a rectangular shape with rounded corners and elegant external decoration of fine parallel grooves that enhance its sober and refined appearance. The gilded interior, typical of high-quality snuff boxes and pill boxes of the period, was made to protect the contents from oxidation.
The original hinge is well-made and functional, while the structure retains excellent overall solidity. The warranty marks are visible on the interior, attributable to Viennese production of 1814.
Thanks to its compact dimensions, the object could have been used as a snuff box, a toothpick holder, or a small personal container.
