A pair of antique miniature silhouettes, depicting a man and a woman in profile, with original handmade frames and the original signature "Johann George Moscheffer", dating from 1807 on the back and beneath the silhouettes. This method was developed as a relatively inexpensive alternative to the costly portraits painted in this period. Condition: Used/Reasonable; one of the frames features a missing inlaid wood corner, the brushed silver-tone edging surrounding the silhouettes is damaged on both, more so on the female silhouette. The brown paper covering is deteriorating in places, in keeping with age.
