Description from the seller
-- Special & semi-antique Tibet, impressive rug in nice condition
-- Professionally cleaned*
-- approx. 160,000 knots per m²
-- With Certificate
*Before entering our warehouse, cleaned at a laundry specialized in hand-knotted carpets, then not used since.
This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made of durable, natural materials. The method of knotting and the diversity of patterns make this rug unique and highlight its authentic and artisanal character.
It concerns an excellent used rug with an exceptionally long lifespan.
This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid down as is. This beautiful Tibetan rug is hand-knotted circa 1960 with the finest unbleached wool from sheep in the high Tibet region. This wool is naturally extra oily due to the cold temperatures (it acts as an insulator in sheep). When this wool is used in carpets it not only provides a beautiful, extra sheen but also serves as a natural protective layer. Higher quality wool is (almost) not to be found. Naturally occurring color differences are visible, because the wool is not bleached before the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic radiance and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.
Main color: Coral/Red
Accent colors: Cream and black
Features: Rich abrash (natural color variations); Much character; Beautiful, clean and fresh; Full, thick and cushioned rug; Stunning shine; Depending on the viewing angle, this rug has a lighter and a darker side; Impressive rug; Remarkable object; Characterful; Semi-antique.
Signs of use: Minimal corner edge damage, despite still an impressive rug in good condition (photo 15).
