Description from the seller

Mercedes-Benz W115 220 "Time Capsule" – Full History.

Rust-free from Oregon.

Are you looking for an honest, unspoiled classic with a story? This Mercedes-Benz 220 - four-cylinder gasoline - is a rare "time capsule" that offers the perfect balance between originality and mechanical maintenance.

The Story

This Mercedes was originally delivered in Germany and later exported to the dry state of Oregon (USA). There the car has been cherished by only two owners. The second owner held the car for decades and was so meticulous about the mechanics that he recently had the engine proactively overhauled—simply because he thought it was time for it to be done.

Condition & Interior

The interior is a purist's dream: fully original and in very nice condition. The iconic ivory-colored steering wheel and the original Becker radio breathe the atmosphere of the 60s/70s. Thanks to the favorable climate in Oregon, the body is completely rust-free. Also under the hood and in the trunk the car is exceptionally well cared for.

Technical & Driving Experience

The car runs, drives and shifts excellently. The chrome gleams at you and the new tires with classic whitewalls complete the picture. The full documentation, including ALL invoices from day one, is with the car.

Key features

History: Full maintenance history from new available.
Technical: Engine recently rebuilt, technically very well maintained.
Exterior: Beautiful chrome, new rubber (whitewalls), rust-free.
Interior: Fully original with Becker radio and ivory steering wheel.
Documents: Supplied with American Title; all import duties and VAT have already been paid.

Important to know

In recent years, the car has mostly stood idle with the previous owner, although it runs excellently, it is advisable to have the car technically checked before intensive use. Because the car is pre-1996, a COC document is not required for registration within Europe.

We strive for the most honest possible description. Because this is a classic vehicle, we advise interested buyers to come and view the car in Damwoude.

Location

Damwoude, Netherlands.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
