Description from the seller
Antique adjustable organ stool – Solid wood – Church organist's stool – Circa 1880–1910
An elegant and authentic adjustable organ stool dating from circa 1880–1910, crafted from solid wood with a traditional screw-lift mechanism.
This antique stool is distinguished by its architectural tripod base with finely carved geometric line decoration, reflecting the restrained design language of the late 19th century. Originally intended for use by an organist, it combines excellent functionality with timeless craftsmanship.
The stool has recently been carefully cleaned and professionally conserved while preserving its original patina. The authentic wear, subtle colour variations and honest traces of more than a century of use have deliberately been retained, enhancing its historical character. The original seat still displays the natural signs of long-term use expected from an antique organ stool.
The height adjustment operates smoothly and the stool is stable and ready for use.
Condition
Very good antique condition.
Solid and stable construction.
Fully functional adjustable screw mechanism.
Beautiful original patina.
Age-related wear, minor scratches and marks consistent with its age and use.
Carefully cleaned and conserved without over-restoration.
Dimensions
Seat diameter: approximately 37 cm
Adjustable height 50-65
Solid and substantial construction
A fine and increasingly scarce example of late 19th-century craftsmanship, suitable for collectors of church antiques, musical instruments, antique furniture or as a distinctive decorative piece in both classical and contemporary interiors.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking and insurance where possible.
