Description from the seller
General Description:
Magnificent three-piece Art Deco-style fireplace garniture (circa 1930), consisting of a central clock and two matching side casseoles. This ensemble stands out for the remarkable quality of its marble marquetry, combining veined marble with delicate pink, white, and Siena hues, enhanced on each piece by geometric touches in light green onyx.
The central clock is adorned with two beautiful symmetrical figures in regule with dark patina, depicting gazelles in mid-leap, an emblematic and highly sought-after motif of the Art Deco period. The round dial features a two-tone black and gold background with stylized Arabic numerals typical of the 1930s.
The two stylized casseoles perfectly repeat the same varieties of marble and onyx, completing the set with perfect balance.
Dimensions and weight (as recorded on the invoice):
Central element (Clock): 54 cm x 23 cm x 7 cm — Weight: 5 kg
Side casseoles (x2): 13 cm x 13 cm x 7 cm (each) — Weight: 1 kg per piece
Total weight of the set: 7 kg
Condition:
The set is in very good overall aesthetic condition. The marble is sound and bright, with no major cracks or structural loss (a few very light micro-sabrasings from use at the corners, normal for its age and attesting to its authenticity). The underside of the clock terrace bears old reference annotations (V101).
The original winding clock mechanism is present at the rear with its winding key. Although complete, the movement is sold as is (not tested for long-term reliability; a revision or a simple adjustment by the buyer may be advisable to ensure perfect regularity).
An exceptionally elegant decorative piece, ideal for dressing a fireplace, a sideboard, or an interior refined in a typically Art Deco style.
