A Grand Tour souvenir in the form of a classical Roman temple, carved from Siena marble (Giallo di Siena), dating to 1880, unsigned and in need of restoration, with a height of 55.7 cm, width about 15.8–20 cm, depth about 16.2–20 cm, and a weight of approximately 8 kg.

This is a large Grand Tour souvenir in the shape of a classical Roman temple, such as the Temple of Vespasian and Titus or Castor and Pollux.
The piece is hand-carved from veined Siena marble (Giallo di Siena).
Object type: A souvenir or model. During the 'Grand Tour', wealthy Europeans purchased this type of miniature as a memento of their travels to Italy.
Materials: The object is made from carved and polished marble. The richly veined patterns are characteristic of the marble varieties used.
Details: It features Corinthian columns (decorated with acanthus leaves) supporting an entablature and frieze, resting on a stepped base.
Condition: one piece of marble is missing and there has been a primitive restoration. It would be wise to take this to a restorer. Look closely at the photos, they are part of the description.
