Description from the seller
Important oil portrait on canvas depicting a young aristocrat or gentleman, dressed in an elegant red suit enriched by a refined lace jabot.
The work stands out for the quality of the facial rendering, characterized by an intense expression and delicate modeling of the flesh, while the rich hairstyle and refined costume testify to aristocratic fashion between the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The dark background, warm palette, and the compositional arrangement recall the tradition of Italian portraiture of the period.
The painting is presented within an important contemporaneous frame in black lacquered wood with gilded fillets and painted floral decorations, perfectly coherent with the era of the work.
The back preserves ancient canvas and structure, compatible with the dating proposed.
