Description from the seller
Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPL13K1
For 2024, Seiko aims to take its classics and update them, continuing to surprise fans of the Japanese brand.
A meeting of two iconic models, Shogun and Samurai, inspired by the armor of pre-Edo warriors, this watch offers a compact diameter and a sharp, uncompromising style.
The new Samurai has undergone a notable downsizing with a diameter of 41.7 mm. The thickness, 12.3 mm, is also comfortable, and the case length, measured at 49.5 mm, makes it a bit long, but the shape of the lugs and the case back compensate for it. The new references of the Seiko Samurai remain modern and angular but far less bulky than in the past, with much more tapered and slimmer lugs. Likewise, the unidirectional bezel maintains the classic knurled pattern on the side but with an entirely new design for the metal insert, once again more elegant than before.
The dial has also been updated with newly refreshed indices and sword-shaped hands. The date window is now at 4:30, as with many of Seiko’s recent Prospex watches.
Three references are available: the SRPL11K1 with its bold red-bordeaux bezel and dial on a steel bracelet; the SRPL13K1, a classic black version with steel case and bracelet; and the SRPL15K1 with a black-coated case, black matte dial/bezel, and cream LumiBrite. The latter is worn on a black silicone strap.
The Seiko Samurai 2024 still relies on the entry-level 4R35 movement, an automatic movement operating at 3 Hz, with a 41-hour power reserve and hacking capability.
This watch offers Seiko’s know-how and expertise in a modern interpretation of two of the brand’s icons. It is also water resistant up to 20 bar, thanks to a screw-down crown and a solid screw-down case back.
The model is paired with a three-link satin-finished steel bracelet closed by a secure deployant clasp with a dive extension.
