Description from the seller
French Napoléon III Era Mirror in Gilded Wood
Important French mirror belonging to the Napoléon III era, characterized by a rich and theatrical frame in finely carved and gilded wood. The structure features an imposing decoration with floral motifs, scrolls, cartouches and shells, typical of the eclectic taste of the late nineteenth century.
The upper crest is embellished with an elaborate central element with rocailles and foliate motifs, which gives vertical thrust and great elegance to the whole. The entire frame is enriched with relief-sculpted details along the perimeter, with strongly dynamic corners and deep workmanship that highlight the artisanal mastery of the era.
The original mirror presents a pleasant patina of time with light diffuse oxidation, an element that attests to its authenticity and antique charm. The back preserves the original wooden structure with boards and an era-supported chain.
Mirror of great decorative presence, ideal for classical environments, formal salons, entrances or important bedrooms.
