Seiko Precision open-face pocket watch, reference 6110-0010, model Open-face Precision 21-jewel Second Setting, with calibre 6110A manual-winding movement, chrome-plated case 50 mm in diameter, weight about 82 g, dating from 1970 to 1979.
Description from the seller
Introduction
This is a Seiko Precision 21-jewel open-face pocket watch, reference 6110-0010, fitted with the calibre 6110A manual-winding movement. The large white dial carries bold Arabic numerals, blued-steel spade hands, and a subsidiary seconds register at the lower centre, with the text 'SEIKO PRECISION 21 JEWELS' and 'SECOND SETTING' clearly printed. No railway-issue stamp is present on the caseback; this is a standard-grade open-face pocket watch from Seiko's Precision line.
Historical / Era context
Seiko's Precision-grade open-face pocket watches represent the refinement of a timekeeping tradition stretching back to the Seikosha era of the early twentieth century. The 6110A calibre is a 21-jewel manual-winding movement produced at Seiko's Suwa facility, notable for its 'Second Setting' function — a mechanism that allows the seconds hand to be stopped and reset to zero for precise synchronisation, a feature valued in professional and scientific contexts. The large 62 mm case diameter and 82 g weight give this piece a commanding presence consistent with its precision-instrument lineage. No exterior caseback date or bureau stamp is present, so a precise production year cannot be confirmed from the markings alone.
Condition
The watch is running at the time of listing.
Case: The chrome-plated case shows clear signs of age and use: the mid-band and caseback exterior are heavily pitted and speckled with oxidation spots, and the plating has worn through to the base metal in several areas. There are scattered scratches across the caseback and mid-band. The bezel retains more of its polish but also shows light surface marks.
Dial: The white dial is legible with bold numerals and hands remaining easy to read. There is some patchy yellowing and minor staining visible under the crystal, particularly around the lower portion of the dial, consistent with age and moisture ingress at some point in the watch's history.
Crystal: The domed mineral crystal is present and intact but carries multiple fine scratches and scuffs across its surface, reducing clarity noticeably. No cracks are visible.
Movement: The movement is confirmed running well. The 6110A manual-winding calibre winds and sets correctly via the crown. The 'Second Setting' function is present and operational. The internal condition is described as running well.
Accessories: No chain, box, or papers are included. The watch is offered as pictured.
Please review all photographs carefully for the detailed condition.
