Antique rectangular frame in hand-carved wood - Baroque / Renaissance style - Late 19th / Early 20th century
Charming antique rectangular frame in solid wood finely hand-carved. The perimeter moulding is richly gouged with continuous ornamental motifs of stylized foliate volutes and acanthus, inspired by the great Baroque and Renaissance cabinetry tradition. The wood presents a beautiful natural dark patina developed over time, which enhances the deep grain and the quality of the artisanal work, with no traces of later gilding. The structure is solid and the corner joints are well fixed. A piece of great character, ideal to house old paintings, fine prints, or to be transformed into a refined decorative mirror.
