Label on the back of the frame partially damaged; the image and the frame show obvious signs of age and wear.

Isaac Cooke (1846–1922) was an important British painter and watercolourist, a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and a prominent figure at the Liverpool Academy. Born in Nebraska to English immigrants but raised artistically in England, he is best known for his evocative landscapes. Cooke’s work holds notable historical importance, representing a calm and discreet voice in Victorian England’s art scene. Today, Cooke’s works are held in public collections across England. Moreover, his works have appeared at auction 138 times.
