Coca Buton Liqueur, a five-bottle lot of 750 ml bottles at 36.5% ABV, produced in Italy in the 1980s, without original packaging.
Description from the seller
A lot consisting of 5 bottles of Coca Buton in excellent condition in every respect.
The first liqueur produced using coca leaves originated in 1866 in Atlanta, based on an idea by John Pemberton, the inventor of the Coca-Cola formula. That same year, Buton produced a similar recipe in Italy using a small quantity of coca leaves; the toxicity was removed through a distillation process, leaving only the natural aromatic properties in the liqueur.
The liqueur is made from various aromatic herbs, including lemon balm, nettle, mugwort, wormwood, and Peruvian coca. The coca leaves are imported under the supervision of the competent authorities, then steeped and distilled in a specialized still. The distillation process is designed to eliminate the narcotic effects and toxicity found in the leaves themselves.
