Description from the seller
It is a lantern from the first half of the 20th century, made of golden brass and conceived in the Louis XVI style, a late reinterpretation that maintains the neoclassical elegance but adapted to the needs of modern lighting of the period. The piece combines structure, transparency, and ornamentation with that balance so characteristic of French taste: geometric sobriety wrapped in refined details.
The central body, made of cylindrical glass, acts as a luminous chamber and allows the light to spread clearly. It is surrounded by a framework of golden brass with slender columns, volutes, and small finials that evoke the lanterns of the 18th century, but with a cleaner language and more functional features typical of the 20th century. The upper finial, crowned by a small pinnacle, provides verticality and a ceremonial air, while the lower part, with its small feet and ornaments, balances the silhouette and adds sculptural presence.
The brass, with its warm shine and natural patina, reinforces the sense of a historic piece: it is not an industrial object, but a lantern designed for elegant interiors, lobbies, or stairways where the light had to be both useful and decorative. Its neoclassical design fully engages with furniture of straight lines, gilded mirrors, and classical settings that seek a refined accent.
It is a lantern that combines tradition, nobility, and clarity, perfect for those who desire a piece with historical soul and French aesthetics.
