Lot of 8 antique metal corkscrews from the period roughly 1880–1950, which beautifully illustrate the evolution of the classic direct-pull corkscrew. The lot includes several constructions from France, England and the United States, including some iconic models that occupy an important place in the history of the corkscrew.
1. Direct-pull corkscrew in copper with a specially forged worm.
2. Small French direct-pull with decorative brass handle.
3. American William Clough corkscrew, made from a single bent wire, c. 1900.
4. Small Clough variant, originally intended for medicine and perfume bottles.
5. English four-finger corkscrew.
6. Folding Bow corkscrew, rare model in excellent condition.
7. Early Folding Bow, England, c. 1900.
8. French Tony Dussieux corkscrew, c. 1950.
All specimens are in good to very good, authentic condition, with a natural patina that suits their age.
