Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Prompted by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models gain a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the subject’s artistic universe. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Deep work is conducted on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created originally and independently.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern and contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops author’s work and music including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
