Gilded solid wood headboard with intricate drilled baroque-inspired carving, likely dating to the 1920s–1930s, from Italy, 184 cm wide, 85 cm high, 9 cm deep, in good condition with minor signs of age and stains; bed base not included.
Description from the seller
Spectacular and majestic decorative backboard (usable as a king-size bed headboard or an imposing wall crest), made in Italy between the 1920s and 1930s (Eclectic/Revival Period).
The piece stands out for exceptional pierced, openwork carving inspired by Baroque extravagance and the Louis XV style, characterized by a dense dynamism of curved volutes, scrolls and acanthus leaves that culminate in a symmetrical central pediment with a strong visual impact.
Material: Solid hardwood of substantial thickness, hand-carved in the details.
• Finish: Classic gilding with a beautiful antique patina that enhances the depth and relief of the carving in the recesses.
Conservation State:
EXCELLENT. The piece is perfectly preserved and structurally sound. Notable is the complete absence of wood-borers or wormholes, a rare feature for furniture of this period. The gilding is intact and retains its original brilliance without missing parts or coarse restorations.
Exceptional thickness: 9 cm (solid, heavy, and robust construction)
Maximum width: 184 cm
Maximum height: 85 cm
Shipping and Packaging:
The item will be professionally packed with bubble wrap and triple-wall reinforced cardboard to ensure 100% safe transport. Given the delicacy of the carving and the thickness of the wood, shipping will be trackable and insured for the full final value.
The item is subject to an additional shipping charge because it is oversized; please carefully review the shipping costs before placing an offer.
