"Elizabeth II" gold sovereigns

The Queen Elizabeth II gold sovereigns are characterized by five different portraits of the Sovereign.
The first portrait of Her Majesty was issued in 1953, in circulation from 1957 to 1968, with the name bow or small bow by Mary Gillick, and it signaled a new beginning after World War II, heralding a new Elizabethan era.

- Obverse: The bare head of the Queen facing to the right, with a bow tied that knotes the laurel crown in the Sovereign’s hair.

- Reverse: Saint George with a cloak descending from the helmet, on horseback as he slays the dragon with the sword. The date beneath the exergue line with the small letters B.P. on the right.

- Edge: Reeded.

- Type: Bow - Young portrait.
