Max Modolo, Italian-made ceramic grès sculpture vase in white, finished with the Kurinuki technique, a unique signed contemporary piece; dimensions 11 × 11 × 19 cm and weight 1.05 kg, estimated period 2026.
Description from the seller
Weight 1.05 kg.
Stoneware sculpture vase handmade entirely using the Japanese Kurinuki technique.
A unique, organic work, characterized by irregular shapes, natural cavities, and a strong sculptural expressiveness. The surface, rich in texture, with craters and grooves, recalls coral formations or rocks eroded by time, creating an object with a strong visual and tactile impact.
Technical details: Material: high-temperature stoneware ceramic fired at 1230 °C
Technique: Kurinuki (direct carving from the solid block)
Dimensions: Height 24 cm × 14 cm × 14 cm
Color: natural ivory white with delicate variations and traces of burgundy and turquoise glazes.
This piece perfectly blends function and sculpture: it can be used as a decorative vase or simply admired as an autonomous work of art. Its presence is imposing and sophisticated, ideal for modern, minimalist, or wabi-sabi interiors. One-of-a-kind piece, signed by the artist on the bottom. Conditions: Excellent condition, with no defects or restorations. Ideal for collectors of contemporary ceramics, lovers of Japanese ceramics and organic art.
Max Modolo produces these ceramics in his studio in Italy.
His research concerns the forms of ceramics and their finish.
He is highly interested in glazes developed by artists such as Guido Gambone and Marcello Fantoni and has always been drawn to the forms of Lucie Rie and Hans Coper. More information at www.maxmodolo.com
