Description from the seller
Offered an extremely rare and sought-after Italian subminiature camera from the brand SCAT (Società Costruzioni Articoli Tecnici), produced in Rome around 1950. This type of mechanical 16mm micro-camera is an icon among post-war 'spy cameras' and is rarely offered in this complete condition due to its very limited production. The lot consists of a beautiful, complete collector's set comprising:
The SCAT 16mm camera: a technically ingenious micro-camera (only about 48mm wide) with metal housing and iconic flip-up viewfinder. It is one of the smallest mechanical 16mm cameras ever made. The housing measures only about 48 x 43 x 30 mm and weighs around 65 to 70 grams Original green leather instrument/for equipment case with yellow and green filter. All in a neat, characteristic condition. Original cardboard packaging: equipped with the rare blue-silver SCAT crest logo on the side.
Condition of the object:
Cosmetic: In very nice vintage condition with only minimal signs of aging (see photos for an accurate impression).
Technical: Shutter winds and clicks. Lens is clear and shows no fungus, etc.
A unique opportunity for enthusiasts of subminiature photography and rare cameras to add a complete Italian set to their display!
Specifications:
Manufacturer: S.C.A.T. Roma (Italy)
Year: Circa 1947 - 1954
Film type: 16mm film (negative format approx. 8x11mm)
Note: Given the age of these miniature devices, they are sold as collection/display objects; the exact mechanical accuracy or photographic operation has not been tested on film.
Please view the photos carefully to form your own impression of the cosmetic condition of the cameras, cases, and packaging.
