Description from the seller
Elegant centerpiece / fruit bowl in frosted crystal with a base in 800 silver, Italian production, attributable to Florentine craftsmanship.
Era
Second half of the 20th century, presumably 1960s–1980s.
The hammer mark with star + number + provincial code “FI” (Florence) is typical of the Italian system introduced after 1968, identifying the silversmith and the production province.
Origin
Italian production – Florence (FI), a major historic center of artistic silverware.
Stamping
Title: 800 (silver 80%)
Mark: star + identifying number (334) + FI
This system certifies both the silver purity and the registered silversmith.
Materials
Bowl: frosted crystal and engraved
Base: solid 800 silver (likely a hollow structure with an inner core, typical Italian production)
Working techniques
Crystal worked with cut patterns in geometric and floral motifs (classic “molato” style)
Profile shaped with a wavy edge
Base in silver made by:
- casting and turning
- mirror polishing
- possible hand finishing
The contrast between the crystal’s transparency and the silver’s shine gives great elegance and luminosity.
Dimensions
Length: 33 cm
Width: 15 cm
Height: 12 cm
Style
Classical Italian tableware style, with mid-century elegant cues, suitable both as a fruit bowl and as a decorative element.
Condition
Excellent overall condition
Crystal free of cracks
Notes
Refined decorative object, typical of Italian production intended for both the refined domestic market and export. The presence of the complete hallmark increases collectible interest.
