Wurkum - Nigeria
The Wurkum are located on the right bank of the Benue, between the Jukun and the Mumuyé, hence the very present stylistic influences.

Their artists are recognized for their elongated statues covered with a significant patina.

The heads are generally round, sometimes with a crested headdress. They are usually pierced at the base to receive a spike that will allow them to be planted in the earth.

These statuettes play apotropaic roles and often come in pairs. They are used to protect the harvests and are kept in specially prepared huts.

The Wurkum call them Wundul.
