Tuck Chang & Co - Tea spoon (6) - Happiness Prosperity Longevity - .900 silver - Export Silver gilt tea
A rare set of six Chinese Export Silver gilt tea spoons, made by the renowned Shanghai silversmith Tuck Chang & Co. (TC), active circa 1890-1915.
These elegant spoons are crafted in high-quality Chinese Export Silver, traditionally around 900 silver, with beautifully gilded bowls (vermeil has some wear) to protect against corrosion and preserve the flavour of tea. The handles are decorated with three auspicious Chinese characters representing Fu (Happiness), Lu (Prosperity) and Shou (Longevity)—the classic "Three Blessings" symbolizing a long, prosperous and fortunate life.
Tuck Chang & Co. was among the finest Shanghai silversmiths of the late Qing Dynasty, producing luxury silverware for the international market. Today, pieces bearing the TC hallmark are highly appreciated by collectors of Chinese Export Silver for their exceptional craftsmanship and historical importance.
