French solid .950 silver wine coaster dating from the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900), with a ribbon-and-bow garland motif, measuring about 14.5 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm high, in good antique condition with minor dents and surface wear.
Description from the seller
A refined and elegant French silver underplate or wine coaster, crafted in solid .950 silver (Minerva 1st standard), dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900).
The piece is beautifully decorated with a delicate continuous ribbon-and-bow (garland) motif, a classic ornamental style typical of the Louis XVI revival period, much appreciated in French decorative arts of the Belle Époque.
Originally intended as a wine coaster (bottle stand), it serves both a practical and decorative purpose:
protecting fine table linens from moisture or wine drips
enhancing table presentation in refined dining settings
Today, it can also be used as:
a coaster for wine or champagne bottles
a small serving underplate
an elegant display piece in a Parisian-style interior
