Napoleon III antique mantel clock in black and veined green marble with gold bronze ornaments, mechanical key-wound movement, hour and half-hour gong strike, dating to the late 19th century and made in France; in good condition and in working order, dimensions about 42 cm high by 23.5 cm wide by 12.5 cm deep, weight around 8 kg.
Description from the seller
Magnificent antique mantel clock dating from the late 19th century, in the Napoleon III / Belle Époque style, made of black marble and veined green marble, richly adorned with gilded bronze decorative elements.
This elegant mantel clock features a beautiful neoclassical architecture with a rectangular marble body, a stepped base, finely worked brass side ornaments, and a superb upper crown consisting of a black dome topped with a bronze decoration.
The front displays a magnificent circular white enamel dial, adorned with stylized black numerals and a finely drawn central motif. It is surrounded by a wide gilded bronze bezel with decorative motifs, adding great refinement to the whole.
The mechanical movement is old and operates with a manual winding key. The clock also has a strike on a bell for the hours and half-hours. The interior mechanism, visible from the back, preserves its ancient components as well as its strike bell.
This clock has been kept in a family setting and belonged to the seller’s grandparents, giving it a particular history and provenance.
Very good overall condition considering its age.
The clock is functioning.
Some signs of aging and from family storage are visible, notably on the bronze and marble elements.
A light cleaning will restore its original splendor.
The keys and associated elements visible in the photos are included, along with other items that my grandfather had placed in a small pouch will be supplied.
