Description from the seller

Large European Bone Folding Fan, Metallic Lace Embroidery, c. 1880–1900
This elegant European folding fan dates from the late 19th century, during the Belle Époque period (circa 1880–1900). It features a richly decorated printed textile leaf inspired by Orientalist textile designs, enhanced with finely applied metallic lace embroidery that creates remarkable depth and texture. The carved bone sticks are delicately decorated with hand-painted floral motifs in warm gold and red tones, reflecting the refined craftsmanship and fashionable taste of the period. Combining decorative elegance with excellent workmanship, this fan is a fine example of late 19th-century European dress accessories and would make a beautiful addition to any collection of antique fans or decorative arts.

Dimensions:
Length (closed): 31 cm.

Condition:
Complete and in good antique condition. The fan opens and closes smoothly. The carved bone sticks are complete and structurally sound, with a small stable hairline to one outer guard. The printed textile and metallic lace embroidery are well preserved, displaying only light age-related wear. Minor staining and discolouration are visible to the reverse, together with light oxidation to the metal loop, all consistent with age and use. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
