Description from the seller
Stratoforma — Sculptural Vessel (Unique Piece)
Natural clay gradient sculptural vessel by Ionela Bellato.
A vessel shaped not by pigments, but by the quiet encounter of different earths.
Part of the Stratoforma collection, this sculptural work explores transition as a material phenomenon. Rather than applying colour to the surface, naturally coloured clay bodies are gradually merged during the forming process, allowing the chromatic shift to emerge from the clay itself.
Cream, warm terracotta and grey stoneware slowly dissolve into one another, creating a continuous geological gradient that cannot be repeated. Every transition records the movement of the material while it is being formed, making each vessel an unrepeatable archive of layers, pressure and time.
Its softly undulating silhouette amplifies the perception of flow, as if the object had been shaped by sedimentation. Fine horizontal strata remain intentionally visible, revealing the constructive rhythm of the making process instead of concealing it. Nothing is coated, painted or glazed; the surface remains entirely raw, allowing the natural minerals of each clay body to speak for themselves.
Every piece is produced individually through a slow, carefully controlled extrusion process, followed by extensive hand-finishing. Because the colour transition depends entirely on the interaction between different natural clay bodies, no two vessels can ever be replicated.
A unique piece. Hand signed by the artist.
