Verssan finds in pastel a way to appropriate the body through games of curves, hollows and fullness, shadows and light by rubbing, blending and puffing the material on the paper. The artist treats his subjects using a palette of tones while playing with the color of the support in warm gray hues, revealing both softness and delicacy but also strength and virility.
