PAUL PICOT U-BOOT CHRONOGRAPH WATCH (REF. 5004): We present at auction a cult piece of Swiss watchmaking from the 1990s: the bold and highly detailed Paul Picot U-Boot. This Le Noirmont-based manufacture is renowned among collectors for the exquisite construction of its cases and its obsessively meticulous attention to detail.

This model "Acier et Or" (Steel and Gold) stands out for an unmistakable nautical aesthetic. Its rugged stainless steel case is crowned by a unidirectional rotating bezel with gold details. The crown and the substantial chronograph pushers (all screw-down to ensure 10 ATM / 100m water resistance) are also executed in gold, providing a luxurious contrast.

The dial is a genuine visual spectacle: an inky navy blue backdrop highlighted by three gold subdials and applied luminescent markers. Inside beats a complex Swiss automatic chronograph movement which, in addition to the usual chronograph and date functions at 3 o’clock, includes a practical 24-hour indicator in the subdial at 12 o’clock. The screwed case back features a beautiful relief of a submarine in full navigation.

Condition (Expert Review)
This is a vintage piece that has been cared for with meticulous attention, preserving all its heft and originality:

Case, Bezel and Pushers: The steel and gold details are in great condition, showing the typical light micro-scratches from moderate use. The submarine relief on the back remains deep and clearly defined. The crown and pushers screw smoothly and firmly.

Dial and Crystal: The blue dial and gold subdials are pristine. The sapphire crystal is free of marks.

Movement: The Swiss automatic movement starts up with vigor. All chronograph functions (start, stop and reset) and the date change operate correctly.

Strap and Deployment Clasp: It wears its exclusive original crocodile leather strap ("Croco Veritable") in black, signed by Paul Picot. It shows normal signs of use on the inner surface, while its exterior appearance remains excellent. The original gold-tone clasp retains its shine and the "PP" logo is well defined.
