Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Covered Jar
A charming Chinese famille rose porcelain covered jar, finely decorated with lively scenes of children at play, a traditional motif symbolizing happiness, prosperity, and the blessing of many descendants.
The decoration is executed in soft enamels of pink, green, turquoise, aubergine, and iron red against a white porcelain ground.
The domed cover is surmounted by a finely modelled peach-shaped finial with turquoise-glazed leaves, the peach being a traditional Chinese symbol of longevity and good fortune. The base bears a four-character iron-red mark.
This attractive covered jar was most likely produced in the mid-20th century and reflects the enduring appeal of traditional Chinese decorative porcelain. It is an elegant cabinet piece, equally suitable for collectors or as a decorative accent in both classic and contemporary interiors.
