Unique, fully signed set of Exactitudes – Ari Versluis & Ellie Uyttenbroek
This lot includes all six editions of Exactitudes, supplemented by two special editions: the M‑edition (with an original photo signed by both artists) and the Rijksmuseum edition. All eight books are hand-signed on the front cover by both Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek. Signed copies are scarce; a complete signed set of all editions is extremely rare.

Contents of the lot (with years): 1st edition (2002, signed), 2nd edition (2004, signed), 3rd revised edition (2007, signed), 4th revised edition (2010, signed), 5th revised edition (2011, signed), 6th revised edition (2014, signed), M‑edition (2007, signed). This is a special edition with a signed photo and the Rijksmuseum edition (2014, signed) a special museum publication). All books have a hardcover format. The 2nd, 6th, and Rijksmuseum editions have a dust jacket.

All books are in very good condition and come from a single private collection.

Since 1994, Ari Versluis (photographer) and Ellie Uyttenbroek (stylist/researcher) have collaborated on the internationally renowned project Exactitudes. The name is a contraction of exact and attitudes and refers to their method: the most precise documentation of groups of people who dress and present themselves in a strikingly uniform way. Each series is produced according to a strict typological method: identical pose, neutral background, exactly the same framing, frontal presentation.

This systematic approach creates a visual archive of subcultures, fashion codes, social groups, and urban identities. The work is of both photographic and sociological significance and is regarded worldwide as reference material in fashion studies, anthropology, and visual culture. Museums regularly showcase their work; the Rijksmuseum has acquired several series and dedicated a special edition to the project.

The books are iconic for their clean design, repeated composition, and precision. Complete signed sets – especially with special editions – are almost never available.
