Icon - Five saints - Wood - No Reserve

Russian icon dating from the mid-19th century depicting the patron saints of animals: Saint Blaise, Saint Modestus, Saint Florus, and Saint Laurus. It is an egg tempera on a gypsum ground on wooden panels, and specifically it is composed of three boards with two terminal crosspieces (sponki). It measures 34.8 cm x 29.9 cm. It is in perfect condition. It was purchased at Hargesheimer Kunstauktionen in Düsseldorf: the world's leading icon auction that is held twice a year.
