Description from the seller
A heavy, hand-painted vase in a classic baluster shape, featuring overglaze decoration in the *Famille Rose* palette. It has an unglazed foot rim and a glazed, unmarked base. Includes calligraphy and an artist's signature.
Painted with a fine brush, the vase is inscribed with calligraphic blessings for happiness, prosperity, and longevity; the depicted animals serve as symbols of these virtues. One line reads: 騎鶴帶鹿下九天 (Qí hè dài lù xià jiǔ tiān), which translates roughly as: "Riding upon a crane and leading a deer, he descends from the Ninth Heaven." This refers to the appearance of Immortals who bring blessings to mankind.
China, Guangxu Period (1875–1908)
Height: 59 cm
Weight: 6,606 grams
Good condition, Fine, star-shaped hairline cracks are visible on the base. In the case of antique Chinese ceramics, these are often harmless kiln cracks (stress cracks) that formed during the firing process over a century ago.
