Description from the seller

Napoleon III French clock in patinated bronze and gilded bronze – Marti & Cie movement – 19th century

Magnificent French clock from the Napoleon III era, made in the second half of the 19th century (circa 1870-1885), featuring an elegant romantic composition in patinated bronze and gilded bronze.

The decor features a young child sitting on a tree trunk beneath a majestic oak, treated with remarkable attention to detail. The rich Rocaille ornaments, foliage and flowers testify to the know-how of French founders of the period.

The quality of sculpture, the finesse of chasing, as well as the different patinas give this clock an exceptional decorative presence.

The whole rests on a rectangular base adorned with finely chased gilded bronzes.

The movement is signed Marti & Cie, one of the most prestigious French manufacturers of clock movements in the 19th century, awarded the Bronze Medal (inscription on the movement).
