Walter Kunik Peptitux IV subminiature camera with a Will Wetzlar Wilon 25mm f/2.8 lens (serial 586733), cosmetically in good condition but non-functional and sold for parts or repair, dating from 1960–1970.
Description from the seller
Are you looking for a unique collectible for your camera collection? This is your chance to acquire a very rare Petitux IV subminiature camera, produced by Walter Kunik in Germany. This specific model is known as a high-quality variant of the legendary Kalos Spezial camera and was never officially released on the mass market at the time. The camera is equipped with a quality Will Wetzlar Wilon 25mm f/2.8 lens (serial number: 586733). Cosmmetically, the camera is in a beautiful vintage condition with light signs of use that fit its age (see photos).
Important technical note (Defect): The shutter currently unfortunately does not respond. For this reason the camera is expressly sold as non-working / for parts or repair.
For the handy DIYer or restorer there are a few known reasons why the shutter of this type of camera may fail:
Hard grease: After more than 60 years the internal lubrication may have dried out and the mechanical parts may be blocked.
Lamy blades sticking: There may be a tiny trace of oil on the shutter blades, causing them to stick together. Internal spring relaxed or defective: The mechanical spring system that drives the shutter may have lost its tension after decades or may have slipped loose.
A wonderful opportunity for the serious collector or the aficionado of fine mechanical repairs!
While regular consumer cameras from this period with a defect are often worth only a few tens, this model is an exception. Because the Petitux IV was never officially released on the market at the time and there are very few examples, it is sought purely as a high-end collectible.
A wonderful opportunity for the serious collector or the aficionado of fine mechanical repairs!
As these cameras are almost exclusively bought for collection and display, this is still a great chance to add this unique camera to your collection, as the minimum price has been adjusted for the non-working shutter.
