Simon Kramer, born July 2, 1940 in Amsterdam, died December 30, 2015, was a Dutch visual artist, painter, draftsman, watercolorist, poster and set designer.
Education:
Simon Kramer received his training in the 1950s at the Institute for Craft Education in Amsterdam and in the 1960s at the Vrije Akademie de Leeuwenburg Amsterdam, where he was taught by Gerrit van het Net.
Work:
Simon Kramer later taught at the Vrije Akademie de Leeuwenburg Amsterdam (where he himself had studied), at the Wackers Akademie Amsterdam, and he started an Art Lending (Kunstuitleen).
He also designed stage sets for various theaters and theatre groups in the late 1960s and 1970s, such as: for the Amsterdamsche Studenten Toneelvereniging for the production “Eramuze or the Sof der Zotheid,” for Stichting Toneelgroep Studio for the production “En zelf de bloemen werden geboeid,” for N.V. Limelight Theaterproducties for the production “Oh! Calcutta!,” for Holland Festival for the production “Kaïn en Abel,” and for Theatergroep Wederzijds for the production “De tellers van Krentensteyn.”

Simon Kramer was a member of the Beroepsvereniging van Beeldende Kunstenaars BBK Amsterdam and of Arti et Amicitiae Amsterdam.
Exhibitions and Shows:
Simon Kramer has exhibited his work at, among others, the expositiecentrum Aemstelle Amstelveen, Galerie d’Eendt Amsterdam, Galerie Krikhaar Paris, Galerie Delta Rotterdam, Art Fair Rai Amsterdam, Line art Gent and Kunsthandel Jan Juffermans Utrecht.
Collections:
Kramer’s work is in municipal and private collections, such as those of the Municipality of Amsterdam and in the collection of the Stadsarchief Amsterdam.
Style and Subjects:
Kramer painted in the Expressionist and Abstract-Expressionist style, with subjects including his studio, portraits, figure compositions, female nudes, animals, seascapes, and (dune) landscapes, which he painted in broad, thick brushstrokes using bright colors.
