A very handsome and detailed antique French Art Nouveau letter opener from the early 20th century (circa 1920-1930), made of solid brass.
The handle is beautifully shaped in the classic hunting theme, with the detailed head of a hunting dog holding a captured duck in its mouth.
The blade of the letter opener is moodyly decorated in relief with natural motifs including reed stalks and a flying bird.
