Rare Religious Lithograph Collection: "Flowers of the Holy Land" (c. 1890)
A remarkable set of five antique religious lithographs from the late 19th century, originally part of the prestigious "Flowers of the Holy Land" souvenir albums produced in Jerusalem.
These cards served as high-quality mementos for pilgrims visiting the Holy Sites. They are notable for their multilingual captions, featuring titles in Greek, Russian, French, German, and English, reflecting the diverse international presence in Jerusalem during the late Ottoman period.
The collection includes the following 5 scenes:
-The Whipping of Jesus Christ
-Jesus Consoles the Women
-Jesus and St. Veronica
-Jesus 3rd Fall
-Jesus 2nd Fall
Jerusalem (Holy Land), circa 1890, multi-tone lithography on heavy cardstock.
Reverse Side: Features the English imprint "Flowers of The Holy Land" with the specific scene title.
Good antique condition with a natural sepia patina. Note the original binding perforations at the top, which are characteristic of these albums. The cards are clean, with sharp imagery and no significant tears.
