Description from the seller
The Dagobert armchair is inspired by the throne of the King of France
Beautiful and dramatic, a very ancient Dagobert armchair-throne, made in Medieval style, in solid-ebony-stained wood and heavily worked -- finely carved and inlaid.
The piece features the typical wavy, sinuous line, with rich, fine inlays. A high-level carpentry piece, ideal for enthusiasts and collectors of antique furniture, to decorate a room, a premises, or the display window of a shop.
Dagobert armchair, very elaborately worked, finely carved and inlaid with a X-shaped base, whose intersection is decorated with a grotesque head.
The scroll-shaped armrests are carved with scrolls and foliage and join the tall uprights of the backrest, carved in the form of expressive faces. It is a true work of art in wood!
Even the upper curved bar is richly decorated with scrolls and foliage.
The Dagobert armchair is inspired by the throne of the King of France, recalling the style of antique chairs.
The curved structure of this medieval-inspired chair and its ornamental details give it authenticity and elegance.
The object is very old, as one might expect, and may be missing small pieces of wood such as a backrest curl and may show traces of restorations carried out over the past centuries.
More generally, a sum of small defects inevitably produced during its long life, which should not scare but rather guarantee its authenticity. Being a piece of antiques, it would be far more suspicious if no defect were present. The true condition is verifiable in the photographs. Given its age, it is in good overall condition, with a stable and robust structure, wood is dry. Therefore it could normally be used not only for decoration but also according to its functionality.
