Late 20th century
Measurements: 13 x 9 cm
Weight: 185 g
This Balloon Vase-sculpture in Murano glass, mouth-blown and handmade, features the initials A.C. of master glassmaker Afro Celotto of Murano, incised with a diamond point.
The vase is characterized by the typical asymmetric shape and the vibrant color combinations that define the distinctive style of the Venetian master. The Murano glass artwork features a sophisticated combination of canne fuse techniques and stained glass work.
The turquoise reticulate geometric grid with bubbles is obtained by arranging and fusing together precise sections of colored glass canes.
The larger portion presents a solid, opaque yellow coloration, typical of the hot layering of glasses with different densities and transparencies.
Organic Form: The narrow, flared neck opens to a bulbous asymmetric body, a hallmark of contemporary glass masters or Italian modernism of the second half of the twentieth century.
