Spoon - Bronze - Apostle Peter's skin

Apostle spoon, oval handle crowned with the Apostle Peter, who holds the key in his right hand; originally tin-plated (traces still visible at the base of the handle). 17th century; 1650–1675. Marked in the molding: two spoons between I W. Bronze, length 17.3 cm, width 5 cm. A similar, still largely tin-plated specimen appears in: John Emery, European Spoons before 1700, Edinburgh 1976, p. 97 fig. 55 (the mark probably identical and read there incorrectly).
