Flared goblet on a footed bronze stand from the Western Zhou dynasty (1100-771 BC)
Outer walls decorated with incised relief friezes of Taotie masks.
Below, an inscription is carved in the bronze
On the footed base, a frieze incised in relief adorns the outer wall above a swelling.
On each side symmetrically a Taotie mask in relief holds a ring.
Very beautiful green, blue and red patina, forming in places thick calcified crusts.
The state of the bronze has been stabilized by a chemical treatment after excavation to prevent it from degrading on contact with air.
Deformation and loss at the neck
Dimensions 21 x 21 x 15 cm
